Sasha Baron Cohen (Ali G/Borat/Bruno/General Aladeen) play in serious character again? The answer is in Hugo (2011).


Cohen play as a one feet Station Inspector, which become an enemy to orphans who scroundel in the Paris'
Montparnasse Station. The inspector became the nemesis to Hugo Cabret, an orphan that silently-operate the big clocks in the station.



Hugo have an automoton, a human-robot which can draw an image that moved by clockworks engine, heritaged by his late father. The adventure began when his father's notebook taken by Papa Georges, a toy store owner. Hugo met Isabelle, Papa Georges' grand daughter (in the real live, the grand daughter named Madeleine Malthete-Melies).


Overall, Hugo is a historical movie about movie itself, especially in France. The Martin Scorsese-directed movie bring Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), Chloe Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl), Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), Christopher Lee (Dracula/Count Dooku), and Emily Mortimer (Lord of The Rings) in one scene.


Kingsley, which born in UK with name Krishna Pandit Bhanji, play the missing Georges Melies, the early illusionist and moviemaker in France.


Melies are known as the maker, producer, director, and player of hundreds first silent movie through his own studio company, Star-Film Company, after the Lumiere Brother made the series of first living movies.


Melies created 531 films between 1896 and 1913, including Le Voyage dans la Lune (Journey to the Moon) and The Impossible Voyage (Voyage à Travers l'Impossible). After the clash with Thomas Alfa Edison and the monopoly in the movie world he already created by forming Motion Picture Patent Company (MPPC), Milies made a small numbers of movie and declining from the extravagant.


Melies once became the leader of Chambre Syndicale des Editeurs Cinématographiques, to protect domestic movies from outside invading.
